Where to Drink

Here’s my list of the best coffee places — in the world! I was going to start out with just D.C., but I figured that wouldn’t be fair to all the other lovely cafes I’ve visited over the years. It will continue to evolve as I explore, so make sure to check back.

True Brew Barista: Concord, N.H.
A hole-in-the-wall cafe in downtown Concord, this place has one of the greatest selections of teas and coffees that I’ve ever seen. They also have a manual espresso machine that haunts my dreams. For your first visit, I recommend ordering Brian’s Rockstar Breakfast and a couple Barista Balls.

Sidamo Coffee & Tea: Washington, D.C.
A hole-in-the-wall of another type, Sidamo is a glimpse into another world. Bags of whole beans crowd one wall and small tables with chairs line the other one. It’s a tight space but cozy and well worth the 15-minute walk from Union Station. Go on Sunday at 2 p.m. to see a traditional Ethiopian Coffee ceremony, or drop by any time to enjoy their large assortment of loose leaf teas while checking your e-mail. Free WiFi, cheap sandwiches and freshly ground espresso make this place a must.

Also- if you’re ever in the Pittsburgh area, hit up The Beehive in the Southside or Uptown Coffee in the South Hills (Mt. Lebanon). There are surprisingly a lot of really cute and GOOD coffee shops in Pittsburgh
